Candid Pictures of the Resort and what you Can Expect…

The door to our suite “Happy Honeymoon”

This was our one year anniversary so they added special extras including the door banner, rose petals & a bottle of wine. Make sure you let the resort know if you are celebrating anything special…most resorts do creative things to celebrate with you! It was not our honeymoon but it’s so sweet that they did these things to welcome us.

This is the view from our balcony I believe it’s the highest building out of three and this is the highest floor which is the third. This is NOT the upgraded suite but it’s advantage is the amazing view. You were close enough to hear waves crashing.

The drinks were great, you often hear about people bringing their own big cups to resorts since sometimes they use small ones but this resort served average-big portions of food & drinks.

Castaways….CAN’T recommend this enough for LUNCH. We ate steak and potatoes everyday (not what we normally have for lunch lol). This giant easel is the menu & behind it is the view.

Castaways is a sit down 4 course meal, I consider it 5 courses thought because they bring chips, salsa and guacamole.

I’ve never been to a restaurant with a more epic view

CinCin Trattoria-Style Italian Cuisine there were two nights that we had the restaurant all to ourselves (not sure why because it was great!)

In comparison to the other destinations we have gone this had the least options for excursions however you can take cabs into a few towns if you choose and it is explained as “Very safe” Our cab ride was $7 each way and the ride itself is an EXCURSION (speed limits? stop signs?)

We went to La Crucecita and it was a great way to spend the only gloomy day we had that week.

Day of the dead decorations are huge here

In the end we LOVED this resort and highly recommend it. With that being said 🙂 these are some things I wish I had known:

  • Most of the restaurants have a more formal dress code than tanks, flip flops etc. , I didn’t pack very much else but I managed. I only saw one man with shorts on be turned away at the French restaurant (they did it very nicely & respectfully) You do have the option to dine outside and wear casual clothing though!

  • I didn’t know it would be that humid. Prepare to shower multiple times a day & pack enough to change several times a day (this is not an exaggeration) I had to wash some of my sundresses while we were there because I only packed enough to change once a day.

  • The resort is HUGE so there is a lot of walking to get to different areas and walking hills, in other words sometimes heels, wedges and even flip flops were a challenge to get around in!

These are some of the things we were surprised by:

  • How friendly the staff was

  • The food portions being so big

  • How talented the dancers and performers were

  • The friendships we formed while being there

  • How large the resort was

  • The wi-fi connections being good. They didn’t say there would be good connections but I had no issues working all over the resort on my laptop.

  • There were so many spots in the pool where it was quiet and relaxing or you could go to another area and there would be games & partying. It was nice having both options.

Almost forgot a picture of the pool! This is just one of the pools it’s taken from inside a glass elevator.

    • It’s my pleasure 🙂 it’s such a neat place that isn’t completely saturated with tourists yet so the trip there is sort of like getting to go preview apart of Mexico that you know will be the next cancun/tourist central! January will be a great time to go!
